Luka's dad died.

Joe looking for some time off.

There is a live nativity with various staff members. Neela, Dubenko and Harold are the three wisemen. Dubenko is bitten by a camel.

Abby is planning to fly to Croatia with Luka and Joe, she leaves Neela a voice mail.

Sam is logging hours as a flight emt.

We actually get to see Haleh this episode.

Anyway, Morris is running around counting beds. He does a little dance when he hits 300. No clue why other than the obvious with it being the 300th ep.

Julia is holding a memorial of some sort in trauma two.

Major feel good patient storyline involves a boy with Downs syndrome meeting his father as his mother is seriously ill/injured.

Luka and Joe have a scene in the apartment playing on the floor. Luka asks if Joe can say "Croatia".

Abby is in the bathroom. She has vodka in a shampoo bottle that she pours down the drain as Julia starts her sermon at the memorial (overlapping)

Dubenko''s camel bite (wtf, writers) isn't that bad because we later have him gowned and gloved and treating a patient.

Also, Abby tells Neela via voicemail that she still has things in her closet she wants to pick up. If Abby has been living at Luka's for over a year, why does she still have things in Neela's place?

Lots of Sam action with the EMTs. There's a second car accident involving a little girl that gets hit and some jerk bystanders who assault the driver. Sam clocks one of them.

Later in the episode, the guy, Rodney, that Sam clocked, is in the ER. He's mad as hell at Sam and interrupts Dubenko, Neela and Sam doing a trake on the little girl. Gates tries to subdue Rodney and needs Harold's help. Security guard dives in a moment too late.

Neela does a second surgical procedure in the ER, getting called crazy by the neuro-surg that comes down to get the patient.

Julia has sent a memo around about her memorial service. She has the names of all the dead scrolling past on a white sheet. (Dead patients I suppose).

Frank, Gates, Pratt and Morris all have a bet about reaching 300 patients that shift. Morris thinks they will, the others don't. Morris starts cooking up patients.

There are two brief snippits of Abby and Luka. Luka tells Abby she can't hide from him forever. Later we have Luka and Abby crying as they discuss her drinking. He says he shouldn't have left her alone, she says she was weak and should have been stronger. He says he's sorry and gets down on the floor, head in her lap. Abby tells him to stop it, he's making her feel worse.

The spoilers to this point feature Lowell, a 19 year old with Downs Syndrome. He’s brought in with his mother, Melissa, after a traffic accident. Lowell Is not badly injured but his mother is, or her condition is complicated by a prior medical issue that will ultimately cause an untimely death. She has told Lowell that she was going to die soon.

Lowell never met his father and fears that his father didn’t want to know him. But the father, Pierce, does come, and seems to confirm to the doctors that Melissa had signed a DNR. It turns out that Melissa never told Pierce about Lowell, but as the doctors take out the intubation, he assures Melissa that he’ll take care of “their son.”

Julia, the chaplain, is there to create a “blessing and a memorial” as Melissa dies. Meanwhile, Frank knows that Gates and Julia have been sleeping together.

Harold, Neela and Dubenko were holding a costume rehearsal of a living nativity scene when a camel bites Dubenko’s leg. It is not too serious as he is operating later.

Sam is on transport duty and brings in Melissa and Lowell. The work is part of her training. She also does a risky procedure while Dubenko and Neela prepare for surgery.

Morris laments more about his father’s neglect while treating Lowell, and then is counting beds and seems happy when he reaches 300.

Luka’s father has died and he is taking Abby and Joe back to Croatia. Abby is picking up dry cleaning and leaves a phone message for Neela that she needs other clothes still at the old apartment, but that she’ll just go over and pick them up. Later, Luka is playing with baby Joe in the apartment, asking him if he can say “airplane” and “Croatia.” Even later, Abby pours vodka out of a shampoo bottle into the sink and washes it away with water, juxtaposed to a scene where Julia talks about water as a cleaning and purification element.

One of the major stories is about Lowell, a 19 year old with Downs Syndrome.

But the father, Pierce, does come and tells Pratt that he thought he and his wife had placed Lowell in a foster family. Pierce also confirms to the doctors that Melissa had signed a DNR.

Sam is on helicopter transport duty and brings in Melissa and Lowell. The work is part of her training. Later, in the second major story, on an ambulance run with Zadro, the ambulance is in an accident with a car – that seems to have happened because of a child, Evie, but later we learn swerved to miss a dog and didn’t see Evie. Joyce, her mother, is there and Rodney, a person standing by, thinks the driver, Del, was drunk. The crowd forms around Del in anger as Sam tries to treat him. The crowd gets ugly and Rodney kicks Del in the head. Sam slams Rodney with a piece of equipment and the next thing we know, three patients, Evie, Del and Rodney.

At the hospital, Evie cannot be intubated because of swelling in her throat and her mother is frantic. While Dubenko says a formal trake will take 20 minutes, Sam offers to do a “jet ventilation” with a nose canula (a procedure she learned in transport training), and Dubenko agrees if she can get it done before he gowns up for the trake procedure. It works, and Evie will survive, and even get to see her dog.

After Sam does the “jet ventilation” Dubenko has 2 hours do to a trake, so he and Neela proceed, but Rodney (see above) bursts into the area because he is angry at Sam for hitting him. Gates saves the day by tackling Rodney, helped by Harold. Later, Sam thanks Gates for this.

Del was also seems to have survived the accident and the kicking from Rodney.

Morris laments more about his father’s neglect while treating Lowell. He also bets $300 with Frank, Gates and Pratt that there will be 300 patients by the end of the shift, and even brings in two staff from the Jumbo Mart. It must work because later he is counting beds and is happy when he reaches 300.

Luka’s father has died and he is taking Abby and Joe back to Croatia. Abby is picking up dry cleaning and leaves a phone message for Neela that she needs other clothes still at the old apartment, but that she’ll just go over and pick them up. At the ER, Abby is filling out papers for personal leave after instruction of Pratt to do so. Several scenes later, at the hospital, Luka tells Abby that she cannot hide from him forever and that he’ll see her at home. He walks out. Towards the end of the episode, Luka is playing with baby Joe in the apartment, asking him if he can say “airplane” and “Croatia” as Abby comes in.

Several scenes later, Luka tearfully tells Abby that he knows it is his fault, but Abby protests that it was because she was weak. She begs him not to apologize for leaving her alone, and they both are in tears, hoping for repair in the tear in their fragile relationship. Towards the very end, Abby pours vodka out of a shampoo bottle into the sink and washes it away with water, juxtaposed to a scene where Julia talks about water as a cleaning and purification element.
