Luka's brother Niko is with him.

Luka offers Abby a beer.

She makes herself a vodka-filled soda instead.

Sarah is in farm country with her grandparents. Only she's at a party with older kids. Things get out of hand and a boy puts the moves on her. She hits him with a tire iron.

Gates (who is at home in bed with Julia the chaplain) gets a call to deal with it. Seems Sarah called him not her grandparents when police were involved.

Sarah's grandparents are rethinking letting Sarah stay with Gates.

Pratt asks Abby what's up, people know she's been off lately and are worried. Abby says people should worry about themselves and it's just hard without Luka.

Pratt asks when Luka is coming home. Abby says soon. He's trying to get a flight for the next day.

Insert cheese wheel crap from the other day.

Another patient storyline, the more serious one, Marcus a 13 year old fell off a ladder form 20 feet. This is an Abby/Neela/Harold Trauma.

Abby is dropping x-rays in the trauma, getting dosages wrong and even Sam is questioning things Abby wants (types of traction). Neela contradicts her on the type of clamp for Harold to use.

Abby gets mad and says Neela can show off for her side kick.

As things with Marcus go downhill (chest tube misplaced or something causes air to build up on his chest) Harold takes matters into his own hands and saves the day.

While this is going on, Abby sees Luka comeing into the bay with a bag over his shoulder. She pauses, melts, then makes a beeline for him.

A bit later Abby gives Luka a peck on the cheek then goes into the break room alone. She watches him smile and laugh with people at admit. Abby ends up puking in the sink,

Later on, Harold, neela and Sam are in the OR with Marcus. Sam is learning how to intubate a patient while they wait for the ortho surgeon. Ronny, Marcus'ss paraplegic father watches from the observation deck.

Grossman (ortho guy) shows up and has a sense of humor. Thinks trauma surgeons are too serious. Grossman asks for some music. Turns out Marcus will be okay, he needs a few screws in his leg though.

Harold is going to his homecoming dance, Neela and Morris see him off. Morris cries.

At home, Abby goes into the apartment and is greeted by Luka and his brother Niko on the couch laughing and having a few beers. Luka says Joe is in bed and that pizza is on the way. Then says this is his brother Niko.

Luka asks Abby if she wants a beer.

Abby says no, soda, Goes into the kitchen and makes herself a soda/vodka drink on the sly (in the can).

In what we have so far, Pratt tells Abby he's heard Luka is home. He seems puzzled because the news contradicts whatever Abby told him at some other point about Luka’s plans. Abby says yeah, that it was a surprise.

There seems to be a chill between Abby and Neela. Abby approaches her “timidly” and thanks her for doing a chest tube earlier. Neela credits Harold and moves off, telling Abby to say hello to Luka for her.

Moretti has left a bunch of orders for Abby to oversee. She wonders where Moretti is, and Frank says he is occupied with a telephone call about his son. He teases about “you people and your dysfunctional families.”

Moretti has gotten an upsetting phone call. It seems like it is from his son’s school as he is talking to the Dean. He says he will be there as soon as he can and that he will tell his wife. Later we hear Frank making airline reservations for him to Providence.

In the ambulance bay, Haleh tells Abby that Moretti is flying out that evening and that it is serious. Abby says it must be and that she didn’t know about it. As Haleh heads back inside, Moretti is exiting out to the bay where Abby remains. We do not have any more.

Lionel, a British man in his 40s arrives carrying a wheel of cheese. He is with his much younger girlfriend, Kate. He is supposedly the winner of a cheese-rolling competition, and he carries with him the prize—a wheel of cheese. Morris is happy to take the case as he seems to know about the competition. Even Harold has heard of it.

Later five drunk and angry men show up at the ER. They claim that one of them, Gareth, really crossed the finish line first. Later still, Morris and all the participants watch the tape of the cheese-rolling race to see if Gareth really won. Morris declares it a tie and that the men should share . . . yes, they should cut the cheese. Gareth declines and lets Lionel be the winner rather than slicing the wheel. But Morris awards Gareth the cheese since he showed the spirit of the true winner in refusing to allow the prize to be destroyed. However, the prize is soured (no pun intended!) when they realize that Frank has cut a slice out of it for a sandwich.

Morris directs Harold to a rack of suits. He tells Harold he should pick one for the evening. Harold dresses and looks sharp. He walks down the hall to the sound of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive” and stops to see a patient with his new confident demeanor.

A patient “Marcus” is in surgery (it seems that Sam is in the O.R.). Harold, Neela and someone named Ronny are on the observation deck. Harold wants to make sure that Marcus is okay before he leaves, but Ronny tells him to go. He tells Neela that Harold is a nice kid but a little wierd.

In the last moments of what we have, Neela steps up to Abby as she works at the nurses’ station. We have nothing more.

There is quite an active teenage party going on in an old house outside of Chicago in a rural area. Sarah is there, and there is smoking, drinking and couples making out. Sarah is pretending to be older and chats up a 17-year-old guy, Rick. Outside, he offers her a joint and kisses her neck. She accepts an offer to go for a ride in his truck.

Sarah’s scenes are juxtaposed with Gates, who has been out with Julia. They tumble in his door already kissing playfully. She spots a picture of Sarah as a five-year-old. Gates explains who she is and gets lost in the memory of her for a moment. Later, naked in bed, Julia offers Gates a joint, but he declines with humor. Julia gets up to leave, saying she doesn’t like sleeping over this early in a relationship.

Later, we see Gates and Julia with Sarah at a police station. She tells an officer that Rick gave her a sip of something from a flask and starting touching her. Sarah hit him with a tire iron.

They bring Sarah back to her grandparents’ house. The grandfather and Gates argue, but out of her husband’s hearing, Sarah’s grandmother tells Gates and Julia that Sarah is not happy and that caring for her is too much for them.

Pratt notices that Abby has not been herself lately and says others have noticed too. It annoys Abby but says that it’s been hard without Luka. She says he will be back soon—probably the next day. Pratt says his return should make things easier. Abby agrees, but the sides say she is not so sure.

Marcus is a 12-year-old that fell from a ladder while cleaning gutters. He was doing it to save money to buy his paraplegic father, Ronny, a new wheelchair. Marcus has fractured his leg.

Abby is testy a bit unsure as she treats him. Sam seems to notice. Marcus needs a chest tube, which Harold does under Neela’s supervision. Meanwhile, Abby has gotten some numbers wrong, and Neela notices. Abby gets annoyed and insults her, accusing her of showing off in front of Harold. Just then Abby sees Luka approaching out the window, and it softens her. She runs out the door and embraces him. While Luka goes to say hello to the rest of the staff, Abby goes to the break room and vomits.

Later, Abby approaches Neela “timidly” and thanks her for doing a chest tube earlier. Neela credits Harold and moves off, telling Abby to say hello to Luka for her.

Moretti approaches Abby in the drug lock-up. He says they should talk, and she agrees they should. But they don't and instead get interrupted. Later, Franks tells her that Moretti has left a bunch of orders for Abby to oversee. She wonders where Moretti is, and Frank says he is occupied with a telephone call about his son. He teases about “you people and your dysfunctional families.”

Moretti's upsetting phone call is apparently from his son’s school. He says he will be there as soon as he can and that he will tell his wife. Later we hear Frank making airline reservations for him to Providence.

In the ambulance bay, Haleh tells Abby that Moretti is flying out that evening and that it is serious. Abby says she didn’t know about it. As Haleh heads back inside, Moretti is exiting out to the bay where Abby remains. We do not have any more.

At one point, Marcus complains of chest pain, but Abby says it is normal with a chest tube. Ronny worries that Abby is distracted.

Morris directs Harold to pick from a rack of suits for the Homecoming Dance that evening. Harold dresses and looks sharp. He walks down the hall to the sound of the Bee Gees’ “Staying Alive” and stops to see Marcus with a new confident demeanor. Marcus is still complaining of chest pain. Harold sees that Marcus’ chest has blown up. He grabs a scalpel and cuts into him, releasing a buildup of air just as Morris and the others run in. Marcus is grateful, and Harold’s suit is bloody, but he is relieved.

I think Sam might be learning some anesthesia from a Dr. Berkley. She is assisting in Marcus’ surgery. She does the intubation and nervously handles the laryngascope, recalling that the only other time she did it she had a gun to her head (21 Guns as she intubated Luka).

Grossman is the rather lighthearted orthopedic surgeon and likes rock music playing as he operates. Things go well until they discover a piece of bone was hiding a bleeding artery. It is a close call, but Marcus survives. Harold stays with Ronny on the observation deck during the surgery.

Later, Ronny sits by his son in recovery. Abby joins him and tells him he was right to be angry with her--that she was not attentive. Ronny tells her that the night he was paralyzed he was young and reckless and had Marcus’ mother on the back of his sports motorcycle and crashed. She died. Abby says he is a good father and that makes up for a lot. But Ronny says that no matter what he can’t change that night. But he is thankful for another chance with Marcus.

Lionel, a British man in his 40s arrives with his much younger girlfriend, Kate.

Later, Neela steps up to Abby as she works at the nurses’ station. We have nothing more about that.

Neela and Morris follow Harold in her car and watch him as he picks up Lacey for the dance. Morris is a little emotional.

In other news, Melvin is a patient of Harold and Neela who says he was bitten by a hippo while fishing in Lake Michigan.

Finally, Pratt tells Abby he heard Luka’s home. He’s puzzled because she expected him the following day. Abby says yeah, that it was a surprise.

Abby goes home to find Luka and his brother, Niko, in the apartment looking at photo albums and drinking beer. Luka introduces the two of them.

Then Luka offers Abby a beer.

She declines and gets a soda instead. They look at the wedding pictures. Niko describes the wedding as “special,” meaning “odd,” the directions say. The brothers laugh.

However, when the men aren’t looking, Abby spikes her soda with Vodka hidden in the back of the refrigerator.
