Oh, look, it's Larry Weston.

Who?

The new Med student.

We get to know his parents, too.

Oh, look, it's Matt Hanson.

Who?

The clinical director of the ICU.

He treats Pratt's patient.

Who?

Allison, she's a quantum physicist and she's septic.

Pratt + wrong diganosis = bad for Allison.

Sam calling the Rapid Response Team, a.k.a Hanson = good for Allison.

Crenshaw moving Allison after her surgery = really bad for Allison.

Did I tell you Pratt's an attending now?

He's.

Did I tell you that Allison has a lovely husband and a 'work' husband, a very close friend from work?

She does.

Did I tell you that she shares the love for science and lab work with her work" husband?'

She does.

Did I tell you that her husband's jealous?

He's.

Did I tell you that Allison asks husband to call 'work' husband so she can pass some information to him before she dies?

She does.

Sophie and Megan, such a lovely lesbian couple.

But Sophie's very sick, she was having mood changes, all due to an arterial venous malformation in her brain.

Oh, yes, that's not why she's in the hospital.

Sophie's in the hospital because Megan pushed her and she hit her head.

Megan doesn't tell Abby and Gates the truth, they are shocked to hear it from her mouth when she apologizes to Sophie.

Oh, looooook, darlings!!!

TPTB know you exist!

Larry: "Guess what? I'm house-sitting for Luby while they are away"

Sam: "Luby?"".

Larry: "Luka and Abby. You know. Like Brangelina, Bennifer, TomKat".

I'm pretty sure someone's making fun of you kids, and it's not this Daisy here.

Larry? He wants to sleep with Sam. On Luka and Abby's bed.

Aw, kids, I feel so bad because I don't explain things properly!

Allison's married to James, but she works with Blake.

James' been jealous of Blake for years, but there's nothing going on there.

They're really just friends, and partners in intellectual researches and all the glorious science stuff.

James' pissed Blake's there.

He punches him!

But in the end it all gets better, when Allison survives, James and Blake finally understand each other.

Hanson? He rules, kids. He does rule.

Bettina 'dumps' Pratt.

Morris and Hope are an item, but he doesn't think they are doing really well.

Sam has a fan.

But some would say it's a silly stalker.

Larry told his parents that she's his girlfriend.

Honeymoon? Honey, first the wedding, then the honeymoon.

Abby wants to rent a car with a baby car seat.

Sweethearts, you know I love you, don't you?

I could tell you more, but then I'd be killed.

Forgot to tell you that Dubenko's around and we see him a lot. I wouldn't let the sweetheart who loves our Dr. Dubenko without that information!

Sea Change finds the ER open and overrun with patients again. Luka is not there, as far as we can see.

Pratt gets berated by Betina for being aloof one minute and prince charming the next. She seems to understand that Pratt loves the chase more than the commitment. Pratt argues he has changed. She also notes that nothing has changed in the ER, but Pratt says that will change also.

Meanwhile, Pratt treats a woman scientist who has some sort of sepsis, but he does not diagnosis quickly enough because he has several other serious cases. Sam alerts others to the seriousness of the patient’s condition.

The lab partner of the woman is there, as well as the woman’s husband. The two men come to blows in a jealous rage, until they both recognize that they play a role in the woman’s life. Morris tells the husband that the lab partner is the “work husband” of the woman – that intimacies develop because of the closeness of the work. Meanwhile, the lab partner tells Pratt that he thought about doing something more with his lab partner, but realized they were both happily married to others. The husband agrees to give the other scientist some lab notes in order to finish some research. But as soon as the woman seems to improve, Hansen (see below) tells the lab partner to give the notes back to the husband, saying woman will be able to finish her own research.

Hansen is the Chief of the ICU. He comes to help the scientist and is brilliant, berating Pratt for missing the clues. Katey is on her rotation in the ICU and assists in this. The woman ultimately survives, it seems.

Hope and Morris have been staying together at a hotel room. Morris tells Abby that he and Hope are doing well, but he seems unconvinced. Morris orders chocolate covered cherries to be delivered to the room, but Hopes arrives right then, saying that she has checked out.

Meanwhile, Morris is bad at Gates for some reason, and Abby tells Gates he needs to “kiss the ring” .. i.e. recognize Morris’s stature, but Gates refuses.

Larry, the med student, seems to have a crush on Sam. He tells his visiting parents that he is dating her, and she is upset. He tells Sam that he is house-sitting for “Luby” – Luka and Abby, while they are away, but Sam can’t believe what he is saying. Yes, he says, like Brangelina, TomKat, Bennifer – and that Abby said it was okay if Sam stayed there with him. Sam can’t believe this guy.

Neela is at odds with the three men in her life (according to directions): Gates, Dubenko and Ray. She had an awkward moment with Gates but we don’t know the details. And after a surgery, Dubenko asks why Neela did not scrub in and Neela is hesitant about what he wanted. She ponders her fate. She also talks with Hansen (see above) about the differences between surgery and the ICU. Hansen talks about the sadness of the ICU, and Neela ponders why he does it. He says that he saves the ones he can, and gives a dignified death to the others. He notes that dignity has been lacking of late, and he’s tired of seeing the deaths. He wants the rest of the hospital to do better so that there are not so many deaths.

Early on, Abby seems to be trying to rent a car in Hawaii -- one with a car seat. But the rental agency seems not to be able to help her, and she hangs up saying "Mahalo" which is slang in Hawaian for "thank you" .. she says thank you for nothing, we'll bring our own car seat (for the baby).

Later, Abby treats a woman who fell down some stairs after an argument with her girlfriend. Abby talks to the girlfriend who described about how the two of them were so happy in Boston -- for 15 years, but after moving to Chicago, they were fighting all the time. Abby reflects on this.

The police suspect foul play in this accident. The patient almost dies, and doctors found an “arterial venous malformation” in her brain, stopped it with glue, and it was this condition that caused a change in her behavior. Abby tells the girlfriend they hope that the patient will now be back to her normal self. The twist is that the patient does improve, but the girlfriend confesses that she did push the patient down the stairs. Abby and Gates know this is bad news.

Betina is not happy with Pratt. She thinks he thinks it's all about the chase, and she's tired of it.

Next they are at the hospital, in the waiting room. The ER has only been closed for a few days.

Two physicists in Chicago for a conference, Alison and James (husband and wife), arrive. Alison is Pratt's first patient, apparently did Neela's trick of taking a beta blocker before giving a talk. They've been waiting a long time and it looks like they're going to be waiting longer. Katey is on ICU rotation and when the wife's condition deteriorates she and the Clinical Director of the ICU (!) come down. It seems Pratt missed that she was developing sepsis. Later James is talking about Blake, a colleague of Alison's who she often talks about. Morris says he is probably her 'work husband'. Alison has to have surgery; she wasn't sure Dubenko would want her to scrub in, but he doesn't know why she thinks this. Apparently Neela's interactions with the 'significant' guys in her daily life (ie Ray, Gates, Dubenko) have all become awkward at once. Neela moves Alison to the ICU (on someone's instructions - possibly Crenshaw) and she crashes. Alison lives, but will have a long road to recovery. Blake is also there and wants to see her. James is not very happy about this. The ICU Clinical Director gives a little monologue to Neela about how many deaths in the ICU follow the same pattern.

New medical student Larry introduces his parents to Sam. It seems he is attracted to Sam... he is also housesitting for Luka and Abby while they are away... and apparently asked if it was OK if Sam 'slept over'.

Abby is on the phone saying if they can't rent a carseat they will bring their own. Then a woman called Sophia comes in with her girlfriend Megan. Sophia's speech is slurred and she's vomiting. Morris is first to treat her, and gets Abby's help, sort of ignoring Gates. Apparently Sophia fell down the stairs. Megan feels that everything is her fault, because she left her rollerblades at the top of the stairs and the two of them were fighting when Sophia fell. Megan explains it's been a hard year, and that she had thought they could get through anything, but now things have changed. Abby thinks about this. Later, Sophie crashes. Megan said that Chicago 'changed' Sophia and Abby asks what she meant - Sophia is more argumentative than she ever was now. It turns out that Sophia had a problem with blood supply to the mood/personality parts of her brain, but hopefully now they have found it she will return to normal. Then Megan apologises for pushing her.

Morris is on the phone to a hotel, and says that he ordered chocolate strawberries for a room, but the hotel says he has checked out. He says he hasn't. Hope appears and says *she* did. Earlier on Morris is booking 3 more nights in the honeymoon suite... Abby hears this and comments that things seem to be going well for him and Hope, but Morris sounds unconvinced.

Various other patients, but that's about it. No Luka. Don't remember seeing any Ray.

Ausiello http://www.tvguide.com

Question: Any ER scoop? I will love you forever.— Ruby

Ausiello: Hope you have a defibrillator laying around, because multiple sources confirm that Goran Visnjic has decided not to renew his contract, and will most likely leave the show at the end of the season. I say "most likely" because I'm told Warner Bros. is attempting to broker a Noah Wyle-type deal with Visnjic that would bring Dr. Kovac back for five or six episodes next season — likely the show's last. That would give producers enough time to script an appropriate ending to the Kovac/Abby love story, since I'm fairly certain Maura Tierney is sticking around.

Question: Is it 100 percent confirmed that Goran Visnjic won't come back (as a regular) for the 14th season of ER (Ask Ausiello 2/28 What about Maura Tierney? Anything new on her coming back?— Alice

Ausiello: I'd say it's 99 percent certain he won't be back as a series regular. And Maura is contracted through next season, so she's definitely sticking around.

Ausiello http://www.tvguide.com

Question: ER fans are dying with this long break. Is there anything at all you can divulge about what to expect after the hiatus is finally over?— Sara

Ausiello: Lots of awkwardness for Reela, a new love interest for Sam in the form of med student Larry Weston (played by relative newcomer Marc Jablon), and a likely trip to Croatia for Luka and Abby to visit his father and possibly tie the knot. My theory? He'll find some reason to stay and that'll explain Goran Visnjic's disappearance next season.

Stanley Tucci may have lost 3 LBS, but he's back in scrubs for a multi-episode ER arc starting later this season and carrying over into next. TV Guide has learned that the acclaimed actor will be playing Kevin Moretti, "a brilliant ICU turned ER chief," so expect some changes at County General — big ones. And where does that put Kovac? And Goran Visnjic? The shake-up starts May 10.
