Sam's sending Alex away to a shool for at-risk teens.

She's worried because Alex'll be all alone.

Sam feels like she's giving up on Alex.

Luka tells Sam it's not true.

He also tells Sam that it might be good for Alex, he's dealt with a lot.

It's Papa Gates!!

He calls his daddy "Mike" and not "daddy".

Oh, look it's Mae Lee!

Mae Lee's Dubenko's new pupil.

Neela's jealous of her.

Crenshaw tells Neela it's the surgical cycle of life. First it was Albright, then him, then Neela, and now it's Mae Lee.

Crenshaw explains that's how Duebnko works, but Neela shouldn't be worried, because soon Dubenko'll get tired of Mae Lee, too, just like he got tired of all of them.

Aw, poor Neela.

But Creenshaw's nice to her.

He tells Neela that her shift's over soon, she should knock off a littler earlier.

Luka asks Morris' travel agent's phone.

Luka needs to get away from the cold.

They kiss, still very much in love.

And by 'they' TPTB mean Luka and Abby.

Luka tells Abby she plans the wedding, he'll plan the real important stuff, like the honeymoon.

Pratt and Morris had some sort of fight, but they make up late.

No, not that way, your dirty little minds!

Mario's the big patient this week.

Mario's an Afro-American who was in jail for 20 years.

They called him Monster, he was convicted for some gang related shooting.

A kid was paralized.

He left jail a few weeks ago.

When Mario comes in, Donnie comes with him.

The cops think Mario shot Donnie.

Mario says he didn't.

Morris and Sam treat him.

Luka and Dawn treat Donnie.

Mario keeps denying he did it until his son Mario Jr. comes in.

Jr. was hit on the head.

Mario has a collapsed lung.

Jr. did shot Donnie.

Mario tells the cops he shot Donnie.

Morris's suspicious.

Pratts talks to Mario and tries to put some sense in his head.

Mario's agressive. Says they are trying to pull a 'black people' stuff on him.

Mario says that just because Pratt got out off the ghetto he can't come and judge him.

Mario collapses in the middle of the talk and Dubenko performs some cool stuff on him.

Neela wants to help, but Dubenko preffer his Mae Lee.

Pratt goes see Jr.

Jr. calls Pratt 'nigga'.

Pratt says he doesn't answer that and if Jr. had some respect for himself, he wouldn't answer either.

Jr.'s all ghetto on Pratt.

Pratt's not getting any of it.

Pratt tricks Jr. into confess he shot Donnie.

Jr. doesn't want his daddy taking the credit.

Mario's devastated.

Pratt says he's sorry about Jr., you try to protect the people you love, keep them from making mistakes.

Mario's accepted the facts. Say they (kids) make the mistakes anyway, you hang on them the long you can, but one day you gotta let them go.

Snif.

Sam's there and it hits her hard.

Poor Sam!!

Sweetheart, Neela and Ray work on an old lady.

The poor thing has some really bedsores.

That's when Dubenko comes introducing Mae Lee.

This Mae Lee stuff is so juicy, sweethearts!

It hits Neela really hard, because Dubenko only cares about his new prodige, a sub-intern who published a paper with some doctor.

Crenshaw's the one who tells Neela that green's not her color and she shouldn't waste one of the the seven deadlies on a sub-intern.

Neela's really jealous. Dubenko's discards her, don't want her to join him in OR, just like that! First time, it's Mario. Second time, it's Julius.

Hope finds out about Abby and Luka's wedding because of Judy.

Judy works at Connie's Cake.

A couple was coming to taste their cake, but they canceled.

Samples of the cake were passed around and Connie took one made of chocolate peanut butter.

But not for Connie, she had an allergic reaction, just the day she forgots her epi!

Abby asks what the deal with wedding cakes, they are so expensive, she saw one for 2 grand.

Hope asks if they can really put a price on the most special day of her life?

Abby asks what if sucks and Judy replies that's what's the tasting for.

Hope may be blonde, but she's not dumb!

Julious and his family crashed in a blizzard.

They were trapped in the car for two days after they were veered off into a ditch.

They were in a road that's supposed to be closed for winter.

Charlotte's his daughter, she's ten. Devin's the wife. Spencer's the 14 year old son.

Spencer left the car to find help. He set some fire signals near the car. Tha's how rescue found them. Spencer's missing.

Ray, Abby, Pratt, Hope and Chunny treat them.

Daddy crashes and they have to open his chest.

Charlotte's scared.

She's also mad with her mother, who was driving the car and fighting with her father.

Poor kid, her parents are divorcing because Devin has someone else.

Charlotte wants to live with daddy. Sarah, her grandmother and Gates are in a car heading to County.

Sarah and Gamma are going to the museum, while Gates has to work.

Gates' sad he cannot go with them.

Gates arrives late.

He tells Luka he's sorry.

Luka says it's not good enough.

Gates replies that it took him one hour to dig his car out of snow and he wasnt't even supposed to be there today.

Luka says neither was he, but that didn't stop him from being on time.

Watch out kids! Luka's hair is turning red, his eyes are blue, he's limping and... oh my God, Kerry Weaver's soul possessed the big Croat!

Forget about the cake Abby, Luka's turning gay on the next episode! Frogot to tell you that Sam takes Alex to the school for troubled kids.

It's so sad kids, Alex finally breaks down and cries.

He asks Sam to not let him there, he doesn't want to be there.

Poooor Sam.

But first, early in the episode Luka and Abby are talking about wedding plans. Actually, Luka suggests Abby make wedding plans, while he tends to the honeymoon. The side notes say they are “still” in love, but there is no mention of what might have happened before.

Abby treats a woman who works in a bakery and had an allergic reaction when she sampled wedding cake left behind when a couple did not show up for their tasting. Abby wonders why wedding cakes are so expensive, since she saw one for $2000. Hope asks if you can really put a price on the most special day of your life. “What if it sucks?” Abby asks. The woman says that is why you do a taste test.

Hope gleans from this that Abby must be planning a wedding, but Abby doesn’t let on. Meanwhile, Luka asks Morris for the telephone number of his travel agent. When Morris is curious, Luka does not reveal their plans either.

We don’t know what happens in between, but near the end of the episode, Hope asks Morris if he can keep a secret and says the wedding is on. We have no details as to why Hope looks worried, other than asking if Morris has ever known Abby to be violent.

Dubenko and Crenshaw introduce Neela to Mae Lee, a surgical med student. Dubenko allows her to scrub in on a procedure that Neela seems to want to see. She feels a little snubbed.

The first of the main patient stories results from a blizzard that has hit the region. Helicopters bring in a family whose car crashed in the storm. They were trapped for two days.

Hope treats the 10-year-old daughter, Charlotte, who has a scalp lac. Her teenage brother is missing. He left to get help. He set signal fires, which led rescuers to the family. But when they arrived, there was no sign of him. Charlotte sends her brother text messages hoping for a response.

The mother, Devin, dislocated her hip. Ray treats her. The father, Julius, is severely hypothermic and arrests. They need to open his chest and warm his heart directly. During the procedure, Charlotte tells Pratt, Abby and Chuny that the accident is her mother’s fault—that her parents were fighting while her mother was driving. She said her mother cheated, and the parents are getting divorced.

Later, the brother is found—via the intercepted signals from his sister’s text messages. He survives though he’ll lose a few toes. His little sister tells him that he saved their family.

Sam arrives in a bad mood, and Luka asks if everything is okay. Sam tells him she is sending Alex to a school for at-risk teens and worries if it seems like she’s giving up on him. Luka is supportive.

Just then the next major patient arrives--Mario, who has a gunshot wound to the chest. He was recently released from prison for a gang shooting 20 years earlier. The police want to know if he knows how another victim was hurt. Mario mouths off and denies knowing anything. The other victim is a 17-year-old gang member shot in the head. Luka treats him.

Also found at the scene was Junior—Mario’s son. The police interview Junior because they heard he had an argument with the victim, who is a member of rival gang.

Though belligerent when he arrived, Mario watches with quiet concern when the police interview Junior. Out of the blue, Mario confesses to police that he shot the 17-year-old gangster. Pratt confronts Mario about his suspicious confession. Mario lets loose on Pratt, lecturing him on was like in prison, how his life is different now, how he is trying to raise his boy right—to make up for lost time when he was out of the boy’s life. But Pratt points out that Junior is clearly in a gang now himself and is in trouble. Mario crashes.

Pratt tells an arrogant Junior that his father is taking the rap for the shooting and goads him until the boy confesses angrily that he did the shooting himself—but not before spewing an angry tirade at his father about not being around most of his life. Mario’s heart is shattered.

Pratt apologizes to Mario for the outcome with his son, but Mario is grateful for his life and acknowledges that sometimes you have to let go of your kids. Sam overhears and is moved.

That evening, Sam brings Alex to the school, where he is to live. He is stoic as they make arrangements, but as Sam leaves, Alex begins to cry that he doesn’t want to stay there.

Earlier when working on Mario’s heart, Dubenko was caught up with Mae Lee, and Neela felt shoved aside. Crenshaw clues her in that Dubenko always has one special student that he looks after but then tires of. He lets Neela knock off early. She looks for Gates never informed her he was leaving. She runs into Ray, who offers her a ride.

Gates was not supposed to be on duty but got called in because of the blizzard. Meg has died, and Sarah is staying with him but spent the day with her grandparents at the Art Institute. He leaves early when he gets a call to pick up his drunk father Mike, who is on a bender and got into a fight at a bar. Gates offers Mike one week only at his home. At Gates’ apartment, Sarah is baking cookies with her grandparents. The domestic scene makes Gates think about Meg. Sarah’s grandfather asks about arrangements to move Sarah to their place in the country, but the thought of losing Sarah hurts Gates.

On his way home, Pratt stops at the prison to visit his old friend Darnell, who is serving time. Pratt feels responsible for getting Darnell locked up, but Darnell takes the responsibility on himself and says he is grateful for Pratt’s help.

It is late in the episode when the teen from the car accident is saved. Since Pratt tried hard to help him before leaving, Abby calls him to tell him all is well.
