Pratt’s brother makes an appearance.

Abby’s father is being treated for asthma. A thirteen-year-old girl is found on the steps of her school, bleeding vaginally. At first it's assumed she's the victim of a sexual assault, but the story takes a different turn. * Her mother is a hospital official and has already been cast (Charlayne Woodard).

Sam's showing around a new nurse character (presumably recurring), Ben. He manhandles a couple of patients at different times to the ooohs and aahs of the assembled staffmenbers. He asks her out, and she accepts.

There's a new nurse on the floor named Ben and Sam's showing him around. All the bratty male doctors start taking bets on how soon he'll quit because he can't handle it, until a very large, very gross drunk starts menacing Hope, then he tackles the guy, wrestles him back to bed and shows of just how macho and tough he really is.

And guess what kiddies? Manhandle-me Ben asks Sam out for dinner afterwards to celebrate his first day, she asks if it's a date and he says call it a date if it means you'll say yes. I think Sam's about to meet her next someone, don't you?

On the contrary, he's about as subtle as a certain short actor dating another girl named Katie and though he denies it over and over, even the patients have figured it out and Pratt is warning him by the end of the day that they have to stop it.

There's a terribly sad case of a 13 year old girl found in front of her school in the morning, unconscious and with heavy bleeding from down there. Abby has to do a rape exam while the mother helps keep her calm. So, so sad. The police think the stepfather who was the last one to see her when he dropped her off may have done it. In the end, Neela and Haleh are the ones who figure out her story doesn't match the facts and that she had a part in hurting herself. So awful, but yay for Haleh, right darlings?

That horrid drunk starts spitting at everyone. Sam calls for a mask but Ben says he'll just bite through it keep spitting nasty germs at everyone. He finds a c-collar that he puts on the spitter backwards and makes him look like Hannibal Lecter. So Morris asks the drunk if he's like some fava beans and chianti and while Pratt and Ray whine about being shown up by a "murse", Morris says Ben is so macho then pretends he didn't say it. Morris has a little mancrush I think, darlings.

Oh goodness, Luka is not having any luck with the Ames situation. First he tries to talk to the police about it but they don't believe anything bad is happening, then he barges into Ames workplace to confront him and ends up looking like a crazy stalker himself. Poor Luka.

Oh darlings, Gates is pouring on the romantic charm with our Neela, he tells her she makes him want more than just trying to live someone else s life. I dont think Meg is going to be happy when she finds this out, do you?

Heres a shocker kids. That little girl who hurt herslef so it would look like she was raped? Her mom is the new boss at County.

Ames is working as a telemarketer for an aluminum siding company.

Neela is not buying whatever Gates is selling this episode and keeps sidestepping and moving every time he tries to lean in close to look at an xray with her. Good girl Neela, Dont let him fool you with that fake charm.

Yes, this is Angelas daughter and we meet her husband too when he comes in to be with them and the police question him.

Thats most of the good stuff, darlings. Pratt has a super-annoying patient who got food poisoning from chicken chow mein takeout and now she thinks she has avian flu. Ray accuses Sam of telling people about him and Katie but she swears she didnt. Maybe if you werent acting all flirty in front of patients it might help Ray.

Act I begins as Abby and Luka come to work. Luka is on edge, urging Abby not to get coffee at the Roach Coach but rather inside. She asks why he went racing out of the apartment without shoes earlier in the morning, and he says it was because he was afraid his car was parked on the wrong side of the street.

As they arrive, a young girl is brought in with vaginal bleeding, a young girl named Danielle, who is the daughter of Angela, the chief of staff serices (who was supportive of Luka during the Ames trial). At first it is feared that she was raped, and Abby does the exam. But when tests are negative, it is discovered she has internal cuts. The police at first suspect her father, but soon Neela and Haleh learn it is Daniella herself. Late in the episode, Luka goes into to tell Angela.

Kerry is going to be featured in a live television segment and the staff is interested in watching her appearance.

Ray and Katey are quite the item and while she agrees with Ray’s desire to keep it quiet, it seems everyone can tell, even the patients. Later, Ray asks Sam to quit spreading around the fact that he and Katey are seeing each other. Even later, Pratt tells Ray to stop seeing Katey because she is a med student.

Sam introduces a new nurse, Ben, from Idaho; a guy that everyone bets won’t last very long. Later, Hope is assaulted by a drunken patient, accusing her of stealing his diamond ring. Ben pulls the drunk off. Even later, when the drunk become really rude, Ben subdues the patient in a very efficient method and gains the respect of the staff. Ben asks Sam out to thank her for showing him the ropes.

Abby treats a woman who has swallowed her boyfriend’s cell phone because she suspect he was being called by another woman. The patients suggests she could bring the phone back out. As Abby leaves, the cell phone starts ringing.

Abby sees Eddie coming into the ER. She later treats Eddie, whose lungs are bad. He doesn’t have money to renew his prescription. Later, he leaves as Abby goes to watch Kerry on TV.

Ray, Katey and Morris treat a man with an ice pick in his ear. Hope treats a patient with a migraine. Pratt and Gates treat a woman who is convinced she got avian flu from eating chicken.

Gates talks with Neela and it appears that, even thought she has been distant from him during they day, Gates seems able to convince her that he really is interested in her.

Early on, Luka has another conversation with a police office about Ames. The office advises Luka to not anger Ames any further. Luka seems quite upset and goes to see Ames at his place of work – a call center, and Ames is wearing a wrist sling. Ames denies something, and Luka asks about another topic – the returned toy -- a frog -- that had Ames’ initials with the on it. Ames tells Luka can check his time sheets to see that he was working during some specific time, and says he doesn't know where Luka lives. But he shrugs over Luka's observation that the frog was returned, and then starts to get upset. Later, Luka returns to the ER in time to tell Angela about her daughter.

The 13-year-old girl with the mysterious bleeding is Danielle, the daughter of Angela Gilliam, the same Angela who works at County, the same Angela who counselled Luka during the malpractice case as it was tried in court. And unless they want to go the adultery route, Angela won't be a love interest for Pratt as had been mentioned previously in spoilers as she is married and her husband, Paul, is questioned by the police in regard to Danielle's assault. Since he is her step-father they seem to be implying that he hurt the girl, but things are not always as they seem.

Luka is incredulous at the cop telling him that he (Luka) is going to piss Ames off, apparently in reference to Luka's contacts with the police which resulted in Ames getting questioned. The cop then tells Luka he might as well forget about Ames, because Ames has forgotten all about him.

New nurse called Ben. Staff bet on how long he will last... Weaver thinks three days!

Weaver's broadcast is on tonight and everyone gathers round to watch it.

Ray and Katey are trying to keep their relationship quiet as she's a student, but Pratt tells Ray he has to end it with her.

Hope prescribes candlelight dinners for a couple as she thinks the reason one of them is ill is stress in the marriage. Hope also gets accused by a drunk patient of stealing a ring; Ben comes in and saves the day. The male doctors realise they have been outdone by a macho male nurse. He also does something with a neck collar as well... Later on Ben asks Sam out (ooh, Sam's new love interest!).

Angela's daughter Danielle is brought in having been assaulted. First Luka treats her then Abby gives her a rape exam. The police seem suspicious of her stepfather but Angela refutes this. It turns out (after Neela does her surgical exam) that Danielle cut herself with a razor blade.

Eddie shows up at the hospital asking for Abby - he's an asthmatic and has been off his meds, Abby gives him steroids. Eddie describes the person who treated him as interesting but needs a little work on bedside manner, Abby says it has been a rough day. Abby also treats a girl who swallowed her boyfriend's phone... girl talks about boyfriend being secretive, and asks Abby if hers is like that - she says no and that he's 'cool'.

Luka is acting strangely, he doesn't want Abby to hang about outside the hospital getting coffee and he ran out without shoes on earlier in the morning because 'he thought he saw a tow truck'. Police still aren't listening to him. He goes to find Ames at work, who denies everything and says Luka can check his time card...

Gates is being all mushy, saying he's a 'mess' cos of Neela, while they're waiting for the El. Neela's train arrives but she pulls Gates on with her.

A patient is demanding Tamiflu (the bird flu treatment)

Chaz (Pratt's brother) is in this one. He's got a girl round at the apartment, but apparently they're just studying together. However, Pratt assumes it's more than that and is happy about it. Later Chaz turns up at the ER wanting to talk to Pratt.

Officer Hollis tells Luka Ames hasn't done anything illegal and Luka shouldn't hassle him or he might really make him angry. (PS: he refers to Abby and Joe as 'my family' again. Second time in 2 episodes. Aww)

Eddie wishes that 'it' (I assume talking to Abby) had gone better...

From TV Guide (Ausiello): You know that male-nurse role that ER is currently casting as a love interest for Linda Cardellini? I just heard that one of the finalists used to be on that little vampire show that Joss Whedon did a few years back. And this particular actor was not a mere guest star; he was a series regular. Name and face in the opening credits and all. He's up against some stiff competition for the plum ER part though, including a (Easter egg alert!) popular acting titan. A winner is expected to emerge by week's end. As soon as I know, you'll know (give or take a few seconds).

It appears Linda Cardellini won't be playing doctor with that Buffy alum after all. The Whedonverse vet vying for the role of the new resident nurse and love interest to Cardellini's Sam on ER is no longer in the running, per a source close to the negotiations. An offer is now out to a certain acting (cough) titan who shall remain nameless until the deal is signed.

Nicole, a friend of Chaz (Pratt's brother), studies art history with him all night and decides to spend the night as it is too late to go back home. A woman is brought in the ER after she swallows her boyfriend's cellphone after another woman called him. A woman claims she has the Avian flu. Another patient comes to the ER with an ice pick stuck in his ear. Gates re-evaluates the state of his life. Neela, Kovac, Abby, Haleh, Morris, Sam, and Ray, also appear.

Angela's daughter's name is Danielle. (She's being played by Paige Hurd.) Apparently Danielle is hurting herself as some sort of reaction to witnessing Angela get raped when she was younger.

Kip Pardue will be playing Ben -- the "titan" comment refers to his role in "Remember the Titans."

Gates (John Stamos) begs Neela (Parminder Nagra) to give him a chance. Meanwhile, Kovac and Gates treat a young girl who appears to have been assaulted.
