Director: Nelson McCormick

Work Dates: 3/9-3/20 (LA); 3/31-4/2 (Chicago)

This is a two part episode. Ep. 13.1 will shoot 3/21-3/30.

Steve and a prison friend have planned an escape from the ER. They get in a fight and are brought in for treatment, accompanied by a female EMT who's also in on the plan. Steve's friend and the EMT are to be name actors. Several patients/bystanders are caught up in the chaos, including a kid, a couple of elderly ladies who've come from church to pray for someone, etc.

A farewell tape is being made for Morris....

The shootout/escape is in the last third of the episode. Abby takes a "nasty spill" and cuts her head ::eyeroll:: but still manages to save the day and take charge afterwards. Jerry shields a child in the chaos and gets shot in the chest. Steve and his friends take Alex and Sam hostage and escape in a van.

It's Morris' last day at work.

Neela's "stony-faced" at the graveside service, while Gallant's dad gives a eulogy. Pratt appears to be the only other staff member in attendance.

It's a big Abby episode (shocker).

Early on, Sam has a new EMT "observing" her, called Mary. She seems a bit dense and is getting in Sam's way. In a trauma with Abby & Luka, Sam is not her usual efficient self

They are treating a man who has been found slumped in his car. His church friends say he'd been missing for a week. Abby & Sam treat him first, but can't work out what's wrong - Luka turns up and works out its something to do with his medication.

After, Sam apologises to Luka. He's says he expects more of her - and if the EMT is a drag, Sam should "get rid of her". Mary (EMT) describes Luka as a "gloomy gus" who "needs to lighten up".

The church friends are surprised that Abby is having a child when she doesn't appear to believe in "a higher power".

Ray has been trying to contact Neela to see how she's doing, but Pratt says to give her some space.

It's Morris's last day. When a couple of prisoners are bought in by two sherrifs (steve and a guy called Rafe), Morris says he's not treating them on his last day - Ray can have them.

We see Neela at Gallant's funeral. Pratt is the only ER staffer there. Neela is not at all moved by Col Gallant's words, while everyone else including Pratt is. An instruction says that among the mourners is a young woman in a wheel chair - "looks like Val". No word if Pratt says anything to her...

Jerry is playing a computer game with a young boy - who's beating him.

It seems Steve & Rafe had a fight because Rafe was trying to steal Steve's smokes. Sam is treating both of them. Mary turns out to be someone else entirely - she drugs the sheriff guarding Rafe by placing a cloth over his mouth and comes in to Sam/Steve's trauma room and puts a gun to the neck of the other sheriff.

Don't know where Luka is - the last mention of him is something about hearing his breathing and...

Rafe, Sam, Steve move out... Sam seems normal, until she calls Abby "Abigail"...

There's a shoot out. Jerry is indeed shot in the chest.

Sam is bundled into a van - to find Alex tied up in there.

And that's about it. So where's Luka? Has he gone after Sam & Alex.

Mary is studying to be an EMT and is shadowing Sam for the day. She soon earns Sam a little trouble during a trauma as Luka thinks Sam was not on top of the case. Sam notes that Mary is a distraction and she is—she doesn’t know a thing.

Pratt is being very supportive of Neela in her grief. Ray is worried and has been calling, but Pratt cautions him to give her some space. Meanwhile, Neela is filled with questions and anger, and does not want to go to the funeral. Pratt’s words of advice come from his experiences with Carter in Darfur and he convinces her to go. Gallant’s father speaks at the funeral as everyone cries but Neela.

Morris is making a film for his own goodbye, as this his last day. He seems to be forcing folks to say nice things, and Abby innocently forecasts the day’s events by claiming Morris had held her hostage to make his film.

Timmy, a boy of 9 comes in with a stomach ache and Jerry takes a liking to him. Later they are playing a computer game and Timmy thinks he’s scored – and that Jerry is totally dead.

Abby treats a guy, 70’s, who was found slumped over in a parked car who had been missing for a week. Seems his two friends, two women, also in their 70’s, come in with him because they found him. Abby and Sam have trouble treating the guy until Luka realizes the blood pressure medicine is interfering with the bradycardia; the different medicine works wonderfully.

The two friends and the rest of their church, had been praying for the guy, had seen in their prayers where he was, and also saw him recovered. They ask if Abby is a believer, to which she is non-committal. The women note that they never would have had the courage to have a baby if they didn’t have faith in a higher power. Abby wonders if she is screwed.

Ray treats Rafe, a man injured in a scuffle in detention at the county jail. Steve follows – also injured in the same fight. His appendectomy incision was torn open. Sam sees him come in. Sam and Mary helps Ray with Rafe, and Sam objects to how the sheriff is treating him, and Rafe is grateful. Sam then goes to help Steve and is suspicious of his behavior as a second sheriff looks on.

While Steve protests his innocence, he sees what is going on in the other room with Rafe, but Sam does not. Mary sedates the sheriff who falls to the floor. Mary comes into Steve’s room with first sheriff’s gun, holds the second sheriff at bay while Rafe drags the first one into the suture room and closes the blinds. Sam quickly figures out that Steve and Ray are in this together.

Many pages later, Rafe, Steve, and Sam move to the main hall and head for the exit. They almost make it, past Morris, past the admit desk where Jerry and Timmy play computer games, and into the waiting area. Sam calls Abby “Abigail” and Abby knows something is wrong.

Many shots are fired; Sam, Steve and Rafe rush outside to find Mary in a van. Steve forces Sam into the van only because he already has Alex kidnapped in the back.

In the mess in the ER, Abby seems okay, Jerry is hit, so is a hospital security officer as Morris and Ray take command to treat the wounded. Slowly they realize that Sam is missing as they treat Jerry who seems pretty bad.

Cut into the mayhem is Neela being driven home after the funeral and she asks the driver to return to the cemetery.

The mystery here is Luka. The last we see him, or actually hear him breathing is just before Steve and Rafe, with Sam as hostage, move out of sutures and towards the exit. The staff calls for him in Act IV but he doesn’t appear in what we have. But the police do know that the van with Sam and the escapees are moving north on Franklin from the hospital.

Actually the sides say that Abby suffers an "ugly fall". She takes some time to get up, helped by Haleh who is concerned enough to go over to her and ask if she is okay. She has a scalp lac, but soldiers on, treating the wounded, including Steve, when he is brought back in.

From duhamelsmine12: Got anything on ER?

Big death coming up.

From bruno: ER! Is Abby having that baby? When?

Abby will definitely give birth before the end of the season, but I'm hearing there may be some complications. I'm told the infant will stay in the neonatal intensive care unit for some time.

Транскрипция отрывка Luka&Abby (by Dublingal)

Abby enters the room and Luka's fixing the crib...

Abby: Hey. Bob Veela (sp?) look out.

Luka: It's not finished yet.

Abby: Looks pretty finished to me.

Luka groans, Abby laughs and looks around the room...

Abby: Well either I've been sleeping for days or you're working pretty fast. How's the insomnia?

Luka: I keep thinking about Gallant and Clemente.

He moves to the couch....

Luka: It's a lot.

Abby sits beside him and picks up the panda that's on the couch...

Luka: I went with yellow, coz we don't know is it blue or pink.

He leans over to Abby's belly and starts talking to the baby...

Luka: What's it gonna be, huh, blue or pink? Hello.

Abby: Is it just me or are pandas kinda creepy?

Luka: (sarcastically) Wow they're terrifying. (at this point he starts talking to the baby in Croatian).

Abby: Listen I know we don't say it because, I guess it's just how we are, but I hope you know how much I love...this. All of this.

Luka takes this in..

Abby: But since we are on the cusp of this hugely life altering event and we haven't been as specific as we could be about us um...about our relationship.....

Luka You're right let's get married.

Neither says anything and then Luka looks up at her and it ends.
