We meet Gallant's father who spends a goodly portion of his time telling Neela how wonderful Abby is and Neela could learn a lot by 'working under her command'. Now when was it exactly that Abby became Neela's boss? Will it ever end?

More later once the compazine has kicked in.

Sam has taken the job and is now driving a Mercedes, Luka tells her he didn't know she and Alex had moved and seems concerned. She tells Luka she really needed the money and that it beats working double shifts at County. Later, she arrives home at the manse and discovers rich guy needs an emergency transfusion. He isn't happy as it will interfere with a dinner party.

Abby is presenting a patient to Luka as they are going down the hall and she is described as 'snippy' and 'short' with him.

Neela is looking to move out of Ray's place and he doesn't seem happy about it.

We meet Mrs. Gallant, too, she wants to go shopping at Fields with Neela, I like her already.

The Colonel seems to think Gallant is in the military for life and tells Neela all about how her career will need to be portable as he will be sent hither and yon. Mrs. G. is much kinder, talking about how Gallant will soon be back in Chicago and encouraging Neela to switch to surgery and do her own thing in this world. There is some tension and bickering between the Gallants.

It seems there is going to be some sort of family wedding celebration, not sure if it's for Neela and Gallant, and that Gallant's parents are planning on separating after more than 30 years together. Looks like Neela is going to have some very interesting scenes with both of them as they tell her what is happening and how they feel.

A deaf patient is brought in and Jerry is the ASL interpreter. Yay!!

Sam and Luka are taking care of an elderly gent whose girlfriend accused him of cheating on her and cracked him in the chest with an urn containing her late husband's ashes. He suffers a freak cardiac injury and needs immediate surgery. While Sam and Luka are working on him, Abby comes in to ask about her patient and Luka tells her he's busy and she needs to find another doc. Anvils aweigh!!!!

Pratt is apparently just back from Africa and rejuvenated, in which case this might be episode 20.

Abby cares for a woman who had a seizure after taking Ecstasy and her boyfriend is the deaf guy. They were at her parents' house and he took her to the ER in their car which they reported stolen after coming home and finding it missing. He hit a parked car while the police were chasing them. He is black and looks like a gang member while she is white and upper crust. The cops apparently knock him around during the arrest, breaking his hand and his jaw. They did not know he was deaf. The couple ends up kissing and making up and she gushes to Abby about what a wonderful boyfriend he is because he is the only one who listens to her. Her parents arrange to have her transferred to a suburban hospital and her dad thanks the boyfriend for saving her life. Conk!!!!

Morris is offered a job, apparently by a pharmaceutical company, recruiting docs to conduct drug trials. He will make 300 G's and have all sorts of fabulous perks. How he would be qualified for this position is not clear. Where can I apply?

Mrs. Gallant is not disillusioned with retirement, doesn't look like he is retired. She tells Neela that she shouldn't have sacrificed so much of herself for a man who was married to the military and that Gallant is just like his father. Sometimes love is not enough to overcome these things in her opinion.

02/15 - Episode 12.18 - Strange Bedfellows: Neela, not happy with her living arrangements anymore, starts looking for a new place to stay. Gallants parents drop by to see Neela. Car crash patients are brought in the ER. Mr. Gallant, who is a colonel, observes Neela while she works. Talking with Mr. Gallant about the life of an officer, opens Neela's eyes to what her life can become. Sam, who has accepted Richard Elliot's offer in episode "Out On A Limb," finds a pale and weak Elliot when she arrives at the mansion. The man doesn't want any treatment since he as about 20 guests over. Pratt, Ray, Abby, Malik, Obes, Morris, Jerry and Kovac also appear. [Note: It is possible this episode airs at an earlier date.]

STRANGE BEDFELLOWS- ARMAND ASSANTE, ERNIE HUDSON ("Ghostbusters"), AND SHERYL LEE RALPH ("Barbershop") GUEST STAR--All is not what it seems when police bring in two teenagers involved in a car accident. Abby (Maura Tierney) and Morris (Scott Grimes) struggle to figure out what is wrong with the unconscious girl, while police try to interrogate the other teen. Meanwhile, Neela (Parminder Nagra) gets a visit from her in-laws (Guest stars Ernie Hudson and Sheryl Lee Ralph) and finds out some troubling news. Kovac (Goran Visnjic) tells Abby that he plans to go to Africa and help Carter (Noah Wyle), but when he realizes Abby is not crazy about the idea, he decides to send someone else in his place. Sam (Linda Cardellini) starts her new job with Elliot (Guest star Armand Assante) and is starting to love the the perks. Mehki Phifer and Shane West also star.

Meanwhile, Neela copes with a visit from Michael's bickering parents (Ernie Hudson, Sheryl Lee Ralph); Kovac makes Pratt an offer he can't refuse; Sam enjoys the perks of working for Elliott (Armand Assante); and Ray struggles with some unresolved feelings for Neela.
