Director: Joanna Kerns

Work dates: 1/5 - 1/13

Guest lead is an elderly homeless man who's brought into the ER after a beating, and he and Ray form a bond through their shared love of music. The man's estranged daughter wants to reconcile with him.

There's a charity bachelor auction, with several women bidding on Pratt.

Jodi's husband Bobby arrives in Chicago, furious at Clemente for the affair with his wife. Jodi's shot (remaining in the ICU in ep 15), and Clemente is questioned by the police.

***********************************

Note: After noticing that the work dates for this one and ep 14 are the same (thanks, Silly!), I combined the information from the topic that already existed. It explains why the information today is so sparse, since this must be the Clemente/shooting episode. Apologies to anyone who read the topic immediately after it was posted and was confused by the changing episode numbers.

The story with Ray and the blues musician could be good. It turns out that the man is famous in blues circles, and Ray's father was a big fan. The man's daughter offers to take him in, but he refuses.

Abby's waiting for the results of her amnio. Luka tells Sam about the pregnancy. Abby's due in July.

A lot of the episode is centered on Clemente and Jodie. It's hard to tell, but there's an implication we see him snort cocaine off her back (if so, put another check in the column for positive portrayal of a Latino...). We only have the last part of it, though, and that's *so* over the top I have to think/hope they're watching a movie on tv or something and it's just a cut to her that's confusing to read. They just can't go there with a main character, I don't think. Anyone else have ideas?

Anyway, they're making out in the grocery store, etc. Her ex shows up with a gun at Clemente's apartment and shoots her. She says "he shot me" before losing consciousness in the trauma room, and of course significant looks are exchanged about whether she means Clemente.

There's a tiny snippet of Carter in Darfur, but I'm pretty certain that's from episode 15, since Bobby (Jodie's husband) is appearing in both episodes. Carter's working with Debbie and another colleague, and they're trying to stop Carter from heading to a dangerous location.

Pratt's bachelor auction is won by a man, but at the end of the episode we find out that the guy bid on Pratt to go on a blind date with his friend Caitlin.

Abby is having a nervous day, waiting for the results of her amnio, and Morris is paying the price, darlings

Clemente isn't having a good day either, poor boy. He brings his insane sweetie into the ER for treatment and her first words to Abby and Luka are "he shot me". Ruh-roh.

Oopsie, insane sweetie was shot at Clemente's place, no wonder everyone is making with the suspicious looks in his direction.

Ray treats a homeless man who turns out to be a famous blues musician his dad used to be a big fan of.

Ray finds the man's daughter who wants to take him home with her, but he won't go. It's very sweet and sad. Then Ray buys him and sandwish and tells him "I (Ray) used to be in a band". Could this be the end of Rock Doc and the start of a new less annoying Ray?

The bluesman just can't stay away from the piano in Ike's and plays the song "A Change is Gonna Come" Wow, what an amazing coincidence that the episode has that title.

Albright is sooooo mad at Neela for scrubbing in on Jodie's surgery with Dubenko, instead of staying in the ER doing scut. Neela wonders why she's so mad since she didn't answer her page for the trauma.

Jodie was telling the truth, her husband really is an abusive jerk, and racist too, and we get to watch him shooting at both the lovebirds, our man Vic is innocent of everything except having terrible taste in girlfriends.

Pratt is at a dinner fundraising for a mobile teen sex and pregnancy education project, I think this is at the community center, darlings. Several pretty ladies bid the price up until the Emcee reminds them that all they get is dinner. But a voice from the back of the room outbids them all. A male voice. Ruh-roh again. Am I the only one wonder if it's DaddyPratt?

So many people sharing information this episode. Bluesman tells us it's February 9th. Luka tells Sam that Abby is pregnant. He says he didn't want her to hear it anywhere else and she's due in July. Sam is stunned, but congratulates him.

Sam is having self-doubt when it comes to Luka's news, maybe she's thinking Hot Croatian Love and a Lubylet of her own isn't such a terrible thing after all.

Pratt's high bidder is just the really, really good friend of someone he wants to set up on a blind date to get her over a bad breakup. Aw, that's sweet in a strange kind of way.

No word on Abby's test.

Carter is in this episode as well, and another familiar name. Debbie. While I don't know if it's the same Debbie the Red Cross worker as the previous Afriaca episodes, I think that's pretty good guess. That John Wells is so sneaky, isn't he, saying there'd be another familiar face in the Carter episodes and no one guessed her.

12/31 - Episode 12.14 - A Change Is Gonna Come: Ray treats a man who's been beaten up by kids. Doctor and patient bond when they notice they have music in common. Jodie and Clemente go grocery shopping and start kissing while in the store. Later in the episode, Jodie is rushed to the ER after getting shot. Clemente is reacting quite badly and gets in everyone's way. Cops are in the ER and, as expected, Clemente is a suspect. Pratt takes back in an eligible bachelor fund-raising auction where people can bid to have dinner with him. Carter will be in this episode. He is still in Darfur. Morris, Haleh, Weaver, Dubenko, Neela, Albright, Abby, Marquez, Sam, and Kovac also appear.
